Northern Cement posts 89% rise in profit

Jordan’s Northern Cement has announced an 88.8 per cent rise in profit to JOD1.8m (US$2.54m) in the first quarter of 2021, compared to JOD953,243 in the year-ago period. Sales also increased 32.4 per cent YoY to JOD9m from JOD6.8m in the 1Q20.

Northern Cement reports 37% rise in net income

Jordan’s Northern Cement has reported a 24 per cent decline in revenue to JOD37.19m (US$52.46m) in 2020, compared with JOD48.94m in the previous year. Gross profit advanced 29.9 per cent YoY to JOD9.27m. Net income after tax climbed 37.1 per cent to JOD6.25m from JOD4.56m in 2019.

Saudi Arabia's Northern Region Cement Co has reported 'robust' 3Q19 financial results, according to General Manager, Obeid bin Saad Al-Subaie. Saudi cement sales fall 9% in January

Cement sales in Saudi Arabia declined by nine per cent in January 2019 when compared with sales in the previous year. Sales volumes of companies listed on the Tadawul fell 9.3 per cent YoY to 3.7Mt, according to a monthly report by Yamama Cement.  Cement stockpiles increased to 1.12Mt from 1.05Mt. Domestic cement deliveries in Saudi Arabia in January 2017 were 15.9 per cent lower than in the same month the previous year, according to statistics released by Yamama Cement. At 4.78Mt, cement sales in the country were significantly below the January 2016 figure of 5.68Mt. Sales of cement by Saudi Arabian companies declined by 9.93 per cent YoY in August, while production dropped by 10.4 per cent, Mubasher reports. Output for August was 4.3Mt, while deliveries were 4.4Mt. The fall in sales was unevenly distributed, with some companies – notably Riyadh Cement and City Cement – seeing double-digit increases. Northern Cement Jordan to install new line

Saudi Arabia's Northern Cement Co said Thursday that Jordan-based Northern Cement-Jordan, in which it holds 99.35 per cent, has decided to install an additional clinker production line. In preparation for the expansion project, the company will carry out feasibility and environmental studies, the Saudi firm said, without disclosing any financial details. Northern Cement Co booked a net profit of SAR234.3m (USD$62.5m) in 2014, almost unchanged from SAR234.6m a year ago.

Overcapacity in the Jordanian cement market is forcing local firms to increase competitiveness amid a challenging operating environment, according to the general manager of Jordan's most recent market entrant.
